Kathleen Murray

Once her band, The Groove Council, established a local name for itself, singer Kathleen Murray wanted to start a side project with a stronger emphasis on rock & blues. She hand-picked a remarkable group of musicians and started THE KATHLEEN MURRAY BAND. The new band features Kathleen's high-energy delivery but with a little different sound and a completely different playlist. It's rockin' blues with soul featuring selections you won't hear from other bands. Her powerful soulful voice and stage presence has made her a Detroit Music Award Nominee for Outstanding Vocalist in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016.2017, 2018, 2020,2021 and 2022 .   With Kathleen out front, the Groove Council won for Outstanding R&B Group in 2011. On stage, her genuine passion and excitement creates an atmosphere that draws in the audience and keeps them coming back. As part of the GROOVE COUNCIL she has had the honor of opening for EDDIE MONEY, JONNY LANG, MORRIS DAY & THE TIME and for Motown Legends THE TEMPTATIONS.  As the featured vocalist for Alto Reed's Motor City All-Stars, she's not only had the pleasure of performing with rock legend Alto Reed (Silver Bullet Band), but also with his special guests, Mark Farner (formerly of Grand Funk), Dave Mason (Traffic), Otis Day (Animal House),  Mitch Ryder, Peter Rivera ( former lead singer of Rare Earth) , Rick Derringer,  and Gary U.S. Bonds. . She continues to perform with both the GROOVE COUNCIL  and her duo , the SOUL COMMISSION.

Bob Bowman

Center stage in the back row is drummer BOB BOWMAN . Bob's style and versatility made him Kathleen's first call for the new band. Bob's enthusiasm for the project encouraged Kathleen to approach the other players. Probably the band's best kept secret, Bob's had a long run in the bands Random Play (nine years) and Fade To Gray (twelve years). He continues to play in both bands when he's not performing with the Kathleen Murray Band.

Craig Scott

Bassist CRAIG SCOTT'S playing and vocal abilities have made him one of the most sought after, and respected bass players around. Craig was a pivotal member of Detroit's Regular Boys for twenty-six years. During that time, he shared the stage with such notables as Roomful of Blues, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Delbert McClinton, The Four Tops, Bo Diddley, Roy Orbison and The Temptations . Craig also holds down the low end with Lil' Stubby and the Disappointments.

Michael privett

Guitarist MICHAEL PRIVETT’s amazing chops are not only renowned in the Detroit area, but they’ve taken him to LA and Hawaii where he worked with bands that opened for Head East, Molly Hatchet, War, and Cub Coda.  In Detroit, Priv spent 15 years with Kimmie Horne, eventually becoming her Musical Director, with appearances that included the Detroit Jazz Festival, Taste Fest, and the V98.7 Smooth Jazz Fest.  He is also a former member of the Valerie Winters Band, Auntie-M, the Big Will Band, and the Brian Alexander Band.  But Priv’s impressive resume only hints at his extraordinary talent.  You really need to see him live to appreciate the heart and soul he puts into every performance.
